Ultimate is by playing through the World of Light story mode. One way players can unlock Roy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, players will have to unlock him, and there are a few different ways to do that in the game. Unfortunately for fans of Roy who want to play as him right away, he's not one of the starting eight characters that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS as a DLC character, but he makes his base game return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and only featured in Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. introduced many gamers to famous Fire Emblem characters, like Marth and Roy, who both appeared in Super Smash Bros. series, it's possible that Nintendo's premiere strategy game franchise Fire Emblem wouldn't have made it big in the west.
